SARRIÀ OLD TOWN

Description

As picturesque as it is elegant and poised, Sarrià is one of the largest neighbourhoods in Barcelona. Known for its residential character and tranquil atmosphere, there’s a lot more than meets the eye especially for those daring few who wish to live the experience and not just drop by.

Its centre is composed by Plaça de Sarrià and a main street, Carrer Major de Sarrià. The latter, a lane sprinkled with shops, restaurants and bars, in particular for the one that stands out: Bar Tomás famous for their “patatas bravas”, the best in town.

The structure of the former village, so friendly and close-nit, and charm of its historic area are so neatly preserved, they seep through with particular emphasis in the area surrounding the Church of Sant Vicenç and its Carrer Major.

Features of its traditional architecture are the Sarriá market and stores of a life time, hemmed in by the Modernista summer houses that endued great splendour to the local bourgeoisie.
